SURVEY: LUS and LCG Public Works have collaborated to get a clearer understanding of how to better assist the Lafayette community's outdoor watering needs. They are requesting Lafayette residents take a 5-minute survey that will ask questions about their outdoor watering activities. Why is it important to have a neighborhood plan?
Neighborhoods are the critical building blocks of
the city and parish and should be planned, developed, enhanced, and protected.
Neighborhoods are a reflection of a community's quality of life and must be
safe and healthy environments to raise future generations.
How does a housing and neighborhood plan affect me?
If you have a need or interest in affordable housing,
sustainable housing, historic preservation, green design and infrastructure,
civic ecology, community gardening, neighborhood security, or economic
development you may be interested in a housing and neighborhood plan near
you. Government can support and facilitate, but it can not solve all needs
and issues affecting various neighborhoods within the community. Residents
should engage and take responsibility. The LINC Housing and Neighborhood Plan
should affect each citizen either directly or indirectly through common
community interest.

The Comprehensive Master PlanHOUSING AND NEIGHBORHOOD PLAN |
|
The LCG planning process is based on a network of neighborhood plans
represented by elected neighborhood groups or Coteries that are self
funded. The neighborhood plans include inventories of adequate hard
and soft public infrastructure. The older neighborhoods in the future
corridor the Interstate-49 are targeted for improvements and maintenance
programs. Affordability is an important aspect of the Housing and
Neighborhood Element. The housing side of the plan recommends the creation
of a consortium of non-profits to develop housing programs, disseminate
public information, develop a housing education maintenance program, and
encourage energy efficient housing construction. The element also
highlights the importance of older housing stock and the establishment
of minimum housing standards.
