Planning Process

Lafayette In A Century (LINC) acts as a blueprint for the future by serving as a guide for officials who make decisions about land use and development. LINC’s primary emphasis is to identify major issues that will influence future growth, to decide the actions necessary to address these issues and to propose specific strategies that will help the City-Parish Government to target its resources in the most efficient manner.

LINC is not a static document. Circumstances will change and new issues that appear over time will require modifications. These changes will impact the goals, objectives and policies that serve as the plan framework.

The Comprehensive Plan will undergo a periodic review and update process every five years in order to accommodate changing conditions. This five-year update process will allow the City-Parish Government to evaluate its progress in addressing and monitoring growth and development trends, as well as to identify and target new and continuing issues within the City and Parish.
