Goals:

• To guide future development in such a way that the living and working environments can be improved and the changing population can be absorbed without diminishing any of the values that have made Lafayette Parish the attractive place it is.
• To provide adequate municipal services for existing and projected areas of concentrated population and growth.

Objectives:

• Encourage private and public development that will offer a greater variety and improved quality of life in the living environment.
• Provide that public facilities, such as utilities, fire and police protection and parks, are adequate to meet local needs and growth.
• Foster an urbanization pattern that is in harmony with the natural environment, directing development to those areas having the best capacity for absorbing new construction while also protecting those sensitive areas having a low tolerance for urbanization.
